Three LGBTQ bars were ransacked and robbed on Sunday in the Belgian capital. An investigation is ongoing but no link has yet been found between the incidents, police said.
Rajae Maouane – co-president of French-speaking Green party Ecolo – shared a message and pictures on Twitter of the bars following the break-ins before the third had also been targeted. She underlined that "These places are among the few places in Brussels where people of the LGBTQ community feel safe. It is the symbol that these places embody that was attacked […] Solidarity and full support."
The Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone confirmed to The Brussels Times that in fact three bars were robbed during the weekend.
"The Crazy Circle" in Ixelles was broken into in the morning while "The Agenda" in Brussels and the "Stammbar", located a stone's throw away from the Rue du Marché au Charbon where several LGBTQ bars are located, were ransacked late Sunday afternoon.

An investigation has been launched and the police are unable to comment on the incidents or the ongoing investigation. "So far, we couldn't find a link between the three burglaries," the spokesperson for the police zone said.
