An investment forum aimed at galvanising international support for the sustainable recovery and rebuilding of Ukraine’s capital will be held on 16 November in the Belgian capital, Brussels City Hall announced on Thursday.
Various European leaders are expected to attend this year’s 8th edition of the annual ‘Kyiv Investment Forum,’ which will focus on the “sustainable renaissance of Kyiv,” according to City Hall.
The aim is to devise and bring into effect a multifaceted vision for the Ukrainian capital’s recovery, resilience and innovative development.
“Our goal is to draw investors from around the globe to fuel the modernisation and rejuvenation of Kyiv’s infrastructure,” City Hall said in a press release. “Central to this year’s agenda is fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors,” it added.
Founded in 2015, the Kyiv Investment Forum has become an annual event aimed at amplifying investment opportunities and stimulating Kyiv’s growth through international collaboration.
In 2022, the forum was held in Brussels for the first time. That edition of the event yielded a joint statement signed by 15 European cities pledging “to unite for the reconstruction of parts of Kyiv affected by external aggressions.”
The day will be punctuated by several roundtable discussions centred on issues such as the ongoing war and the investment required for sustainable growth.
Participants will include European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (by video conference), European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders, and Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib.
“Faced with challenges, our city has demonstrated unprecedented tenacity,” Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said. “This year, we gather to seek tangible solutions, innovations and partnerships to secure a better future for Kyiv’s inhabitants.”
