British expats, rejoice! A new 'canteen' entirely dedicated to English cuisine has opened in the Brussels municipality of Saint-Gilles, ready to welcome those who are feeling a little homesick or are intrigued to try some British staples.

Despite thousands of British people living in the country, an establishment entirely dedicated to this cuisine has been lacking so far in Brussels. But this has all changed with the arrival of Rascal's (which, according to its owners, is "the new British place in Brussels for all the Rascals").

The new café is located on Rue de Savoie 34 in Saint-Gilles, nestled in between the stunning townhouses next to the commune's town hall. Despite having only opened several days ago, it has rapidly become the talk of the town, especially in the European Quarter of Brussels.

With its red window grilles and golden lighting, the dainty café is the epitome of cosiness. In the canteen-styled restaurant, breakfast is served all day. British expats as well as foodies and the curious can pull up their chairs to enjoy a warm mug of builder's tea and a full English (meat or vegan), or a bowl of traditional porridge. For a true trip down memory lane, get the simple beans on toast.

Foodies can also pop in for an afternoon scone or end their day with a nice and greasy fish and chips, washed down with a pint or cider from the barrel. "From dawn to dusk, from breakfast to evening pint, from scone to fish & chips, this will be your favourite British café," its owners proclaimed.

All this can be enjoyed with Britpop playing in the background in a setting adorned with posters of British (and not-so-British – see Sinéad O'Connor) icons. As expected from any British establishment, staff are said to be extremely welcoming and jolly.
