Around 600 pro-Palestinian demonstrators assembled in front of the German embassy in Brussels at 18:00 on Saturday. The protest took place calmly, albeit with a few attendees being apprehended.
Upon arrival, the police searched the protesters, excluding those with ski masks or other gear that could shield them from tear gas. The roads around the embassy had been cordoned off, and the police prepared to intervene.
However, there was ultimately no need for this. The rally took place without any significant incident and was peaceful. Following the demonstration, the procession moved towards the Arts-Loi metro stop, where the crowd dispersed.
This time, the protest was aimed at Germany, which, according to the demonstrators, is "complicit" in the "Israeli genocide in Palestine."
They also criticised German law enforcement's heavy-handed suppression of pro-Palestinian events, such as at the Humboldt University of Berlin and during rallies in Berlin's Neukölln and Kreuzberg neighbourhoods.
