A free classical music concert will be taking place on the eve of Belgium's National Day next month. The event allows locals and tourists alike to discover one of the most beautiful venues in the capital.

The Belgian National Day (21 July) is always a time of festivities, with events, open days and activities taking place across the city before a major fireworks show in the evening. This year, however, the celebrations will start earlier, with a free classical music concert on Saturday 20 June.

The concert will take place in the beautiful Henry Le Boeuf Hall in the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts (Bozar), which is acoustically among the best concert halls in the world. Belgium's King Philippe and Queen Mathilde will also be in attendance.

The soloist at this year's concert is soprano Sumi Hwang, who was the First Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2014. She will be accompanied by the Belgian National Orchestra, conducted by Antony Hermus.

The concert will begin with an orchestral prelude from Lohengrin by Richard Wagner, followed by three Lieder by Richard Strauss, two arias from Gianni Schicchi, La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini and another aria from Faust by Charles Gounod.

The orchestra will also play an interlude from Puccini's Le Villi and close the concert with Maurice Ravel's La Valse.

People can reserve their seats (up to four per person) from Tuesday via the official website. "The tickets are not numbered. You therefore take your seat wherever you want," the organisers stated.
