One person was left seriously injured following a stabbing in central Brussels on Sunday.

The person, though seriously hurt, is no longer in a life-threatening situation, according to police.

Police were called to a knife-fight at Rue de Laeken on the junction of Boulevard Antwerp at around 8:35 am. “Our teams quickly arrived at the scene where they discovered the conscious but seriously injured victim,” a police spokesperson said.

Police officers provided initial medical care and established a security perimeter before paramedics arrived.

The perpetrator fled towards the Yser Metro station, which was temporarily closed, however no arrests have been made so far.
