A man was seriously injured in a stabbing at Brussels' De Brouckère metro station on Sunday evening, according to a report by Bruzz, later confirmed by the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office. Two suspects managed to flee the scene.

The Federal Railway Police was informed of the incident at around 22:00 on Sunday, according to a spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor's Office, Yasmina Vanoverschelde.

"Officers found a victim with a stab wound at the scene. Medical services, including an ambulance and emergency medical team, were already present. The victim was transported to hospital, seriously injured but not in life-threatening danger," she added.

"Initial findings suggest the victim sustained a stab wound to the ribcage during an altercation with two suspects," Vanoverschelde continued. "One suspect fled after the incident. A witness who came to the victim's aid reportedly was kicked by the other perpetrator, who also managed to flee."

The police set up a perimeter to preserve evidence at the scene and informed the Public Prosecutor's Office. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
