Seven suspects have been arrested following a series of anti-drug trafficking raids in Brussels and its outskirts.
The police operations were conducted as part of an investigation that began in spring 2023 after the police received reports of unusual activity at a house in Puers-Saint-Amand, in the province of Antwerp.
The house was seen to be frequently visited by unknown vehicles, which turned out to be rentals. Further investigations led police to uncover a long-standing drug trafficking network.
The raids occurred simultaneously this week in various locations including Forest, Saint-Gilles, Schaerbeek, Ixelles, Vilvoorde, Zaventem, and Strombeek-Bever.
These operations were carried out by the Rivierenland police zone, with support from other local police forces and special units of the federal police.
Five of the suspects were place under arrest, while the other two were conditionally released. Police also seized 140 doses of cocaine and a significant amount of cash.
