The Flemish Community Commission (VGC) will allocate €785,000 to 171 Dutch-speaking schools in the Brussels-Capital Region as part of its Klas in Actie programme, it announced on Wednesday.
The aim is to offer students new educational activities, such as environmental classes, music lessons and theatre workshops.
A total of 135 primary schools and 36 secondary schools in the capital will share these funds, with two thirds allocated to primary education.
The only condition for receiving these subsidies is that the activities must take place in the Brussels Region, although the grant can also be used for multi-day trips within Belgium.
