As Christmas has passed and New Year's Eve is still a few days away, many will spend this weekend in limbo while trying to digest their festive meals. Still, it is worth venturing out into the city for plenty of great events. We have selected some of our favourites.

LAB•AN x Hôtel van Eetvelde, Hôtel van Eetvelde, Saturday 29 and Sunday 29 December

Want to spend the last weekend of the year submerged in art and culture? The LAB-AN space for the promotion of Art Nouveau is giving people exceptional access to the spaces of the Hôtel Van Eetvelde that are normally closed to the public.

During the last weekend of 2024, you can discover the private areas of the building, see the dome of the Winter Garden from above and learn more about the structure of this art nouveau building designed by Victor Horta – classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Afrobase: 8th Anniversary, Mirano, Saturday 28 December

To celebrate its eighth anniversary, the Mirano nightclub in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode is throwing an Afrobase birthday party. On the programme: shows, guests and "plenty of surprises."

The evening promises a musical journey through the best of Afrobeat, Afro House, Dancehall, Kuduro, Amapiano, Hip-Hop, and Kizomba – allowing revellers to travel through the rich sounds that define Afro culture, all in an exceptional setting that brings the heat of the tropics to Brussels.

'Eighties Fury' and 'Bounce', Madame Moustache, 27 and 28 December

For those who can't wait until New Year's Eve to start dancing (or prefer a night of clubbing without the crowds or the pressure to ring in the new year properly), Madame Moustache in the city centre is organising two parties this weekend.

'Eighties Fury' on Friday will take you back in time and relive the golden era of the ‘80s with the best retro hits, while 'Bounce' on Saturday will make sure you keep the dance floor alive to the beats of electronic beats, urban music, and everything in between.

Winter walk in the Forêt de Soignes, Rouge-Cloître, Sunday 29 December

If you feel like swapping your seat at the Christmas table for a sporting activity, you can take a guided 20 km walk in the Forêt de Soignes to enjoy the winter atmosphere and round off the year in style.

The looping walk will start and finish at the Rouge-Cloître arts centre in Auderghem. As 20 km is quite a trek, those who want to participate would do well to bring a packed lunch, as well as water and snacks. Don't forget your hiking shoes!
