Most people would rather leave chores such as cleaning to someone else. But the business of finding household help in Brussels can be especially tricky if you don't know where to start.
Slightly out of character for Brussels, the process of finding someone to clean your house is relatively simple – if you know how to go about it.
The only way to find a cleaner through the official channels is by contacting a recognised company. They will help you find one that matches your needs and expectations – in terms of the working hours and the type of service you need.
Through the titre-service website hosted by the Brussels Government (only in Dutch and French), you can find a company by simply filling out your postal code in the search box.

If you already know through which company you would like to make arrangements, you can already write their name. Additionally, you can also tick boxes to indicate whether you want household help, ironing outside the house, transport or grocery shopping (or any combination of the four).
The result will give you a list of companies in your area, with contact details (such as a telephone number and/or email address) and a website. Through one of these, you can then put in a request for any of the services you require.
What about reliability?
All cleaners are vetted by the companies that employ them. They should be reliable and have received the proper training. Many of these companies, also provide their clients with a fixed point of contact.
This means that you can be helped quickly if there is an issue. That way, companies can send a replacement or extra help if needed. Additionally, these fixed people are the link between you and your household help for any questions, feedback, comments or problems.
How does it work with the service vouchers?
With service vouchers (called 'titres-service' in French), you can pay for any domestic work (indoors or outdoors) related to your own household. This means that these vouchers cannot be used for professional purposes (such as cleaning a doctor's office, a waiting room or a room you rent out).

Buying service vouchers used to come with tax benefits, but that advantage has now disappeared. Additionally, the price-per-voucher rose from €9 to €10. Up until the end of 2024, people were entitled to a tax reduction of €1.80 per voucher, for a maximum amount of €1,790 worth of vouchers per person.
For people looking to buy new vouchers in 2025, that tax reduction is no longer in effect. However, the vouchers are valid for one year, meaning that those who were bought last year can still be used this year (but keep the expiry date in mind).
Special requirements?
Official companies will do their best to meet any requests you have (such as a preference for a cleaner speaking a certain language or with specific experience). But they can only offer people who are part of their employee pool.
If you cannot find someone to suit your needs, there are numerous forums or groups on social media platforms where people search for or advertise their services.
