An armed robbery took place on Monday afternoon in a jewellery store in the centre of Brussels, according to Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone spokesperson, Ilse Van de Keere.
"At around 16:00, our dispatch centre was informed of an armed robbery in a jewellery store on Rue du Midi," said Van de Keere.
Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. "Upon arrival, officers found only the employee; the suspect or suspects were no longer in the store," said the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office.
No injuries were reported, the police confirmed. An investigation has been launched to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and identify the perpetrator(s).
