The actual cost of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign in Brussels was about €72.95 per person – significantly more than the €44.63 per person in Flanders.
The Brussels figures relate to the basic vaccination campaign that ran until 30 November 2021 and don’t include the booster campaign that started, Belga News Agency reports.
The €72.95 per person includes the costs of the vaccines themselves, the vaccination centres, the Vacci buses and the awareness campaign.

“The entire vaccination campaign in Brussels has cost €89 million up to November 30 last year,” Simon Vandamme, spokesperson for Brussels Health Minister Alain Maron (Ecolo), said. “Of that, about €57 million came from the Federal Government.”
Flanders kept costs down
The Brussels region wound up paying €32 million for its vaccination campaign, organized by the Joint Community Commission (JCC), but while Flanders’ contribution was greater (due to its much larger population) at €214 million, their average per person was much lower.
Flanders credits the savings to a high number of volunteers at their vaccination centres, which brought the cost from an expected €290 million to the €214 million actual cost.
