On Sunday night, various objects were set on fire during an incident in the Anneessens neighbourhood in Brussels, resulting in numerous arrests on the spot.
Police helicopters could be heard hovering over the centre of Brussels on Sunday night. Around 20:30, the police zone of Brussels Capital/Ixelles was informed that a fire was being set to a vehicle and rubbish bins on Place Anneessens in Brussels.
"Several patrols immediately went to the scene and assistance was requested from the fire brigade to extinguish the fire," Ilse Van de keere, spokesperson for the police zone, told The Brussels Times.
In total, nine people were arrested on the spot, including seven administrative arrests for disturbing the public order. Two people were arrested judicially, one for arson and one for rebellion. During the intervention, one inspector became injured.

"Thanks to the swift intervention of the services, everything was calm again by 23:00," Van de keere said. It is unclear what started the incident.
Some bins were also set on fire in the Rue Bodegem. The Brussels fire brigade confirmed it had put out several fires, adding that no firefighters were injured during the intervention.
