The Belgian Pedalo World Championships is set to return to Brussels on Sunday, pitting pedalo racers in a four-hour endurance race around the lake of the Bois de la Cambre.
The event, sponsored by Bancontact, will see 40 teams of eight to ten riders compete against each other in two races. Competitors will complete laps around the Robinson Island, all while spectators enjoy the live music, pétanque, volleyball, food trucks and outdoor bars on offer.
Anyone can compete in the amateur sporting event, as long as they own a pair of trainers, the organisers clarify. People can register through the Belgian Pedalo website.

The event first started in 2022 as a fun idea between friends. Since then, the event has significantly grown in popularity. The first race is scheduled to take place this Sunday. Another race will take place on 18 June and the fastest competitors in each leg will be rewarded.
The event organisers managed to attract 500 participants and over 3,000 spectators last year and hope to draw in even more this year.
