Proximus has announced a six-year extension to Guillaume Boutin’s tenure as CEO.
Boutin has served as the company’s chief executive since December 2019. He earned the unanimous support of the board for the extension of his term as an endorsement of his leadership, according to a company press statement.
His efforts on international business development, digital transformation, and the roll-out of future mobile and fixed networks have been acknowledged, the statement added.
“The nomination and remuneration committee is confident that Guillaume is the right person to take Proximus Group to the next level and guide its increasingly international focus," commented Stefaan De Clerck, chairman of the board.
The contract extension also comes with changes to Boutin’s remuneration package. The base package will remain the same, but an additional €400,000 per year has been added for his international responsibilities, including serving as chairman of international communications enabler BICS and CEO of Proximus Opal.
Additionally, the board grants him a special success compensation of 75,000 shares, subject to a three-year holding period. This award is intended to recognise the milestones achieved in developing, preparing, and executing Proximus Group’s international strategy, the board said.
