Walloon employment centre Forem has surveyed large companies operating in the region for their recruitment forecasts for the next 12 months, with 120 companies planning to hire 11,002 new employees.

While all sectors are looking for qualified labour, the security sector (4,030 job openings), tourism (1,361 openings), and transport and logistics (1,320 openings) have particularly high demands for 2025.

This trend is due to ongoing market conditions and shortages in these sectors, Forem explained on Thursday.

By province, Walloon Brabant has the highest need for human resources (29%), followed by Hainaut (23%), Liège (19%), Luxembourg (15%), and Namur (14%).

To support companies searching for labour, Forem will organise around twenty job fairs at the beginning of the year in the south of the country. Additionally, more than 700 informational sessions on training are planned.
