The Basic-Fit fitness chain's member numbers increased by 213,000 in the first three months of this year, bringing its total membership to 4.47 million, the Dutch company announced on Thursday.

Growth in subscriber numbers was particularly notable in France and Spain.

Between the start of January and the end of March, the number of gyms increased by 41 to reach 1,616. Most of the new clubs opened in France, where Basic-Fit now has 875 locations. In the Netherlands, the company operates 243 branches. Basic-Fit is also present in Luxembourg, Germany and Belgium, where it has 231 gyms, up from 224 at the end of March 2024.

Revenue for the first quarter increased by 17% compared to the previous year, reaching €332 million.

Basic-Fit, headquartered in Hoofddorp, confirmed it is maintaining its projections for the current fiscal year. Revenue for the full year 2025 is expected to be between €1.375 and €1.425 billion. The company also plans to increase the number of clubs by around 100 this year and to launch a €40 million share buyback programme by the end of December.

Basic-Fit, now one of the official sponsors of the Tour de France for at least four years (sponsoring the team classification), also announced a new €200 million credit facility agreed with banks ABN AMRO and Rabobank to potentially repay convertible bonds in June 2026.
