The American logistics company UPS announced on Tuesday that it would cut 20,000 jobs worldwide as part of a cost-saving initiative, given the volatile economic climate and the trade war initiated by US President Donald Trump.
The company, which has nearly 490,000 employees, already cut 12,000 jobs in 2024. It is aiming to save $3.5 billion this year.
This decision is part of a broader strategy to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
The layoffs will affect various regions and departments globally.
UPS maintains that it is committed to supporting affected employees through the transition with assistance programmes.
