Tariffs from several major mobile carriers in Belgium are set to rise in June, according to Belgian newspaper 7 sur 7.

Mobile carrier Orange is set to increase many of its tariffs from the start of next month. The price of mobile subscriptions will increase between €1-3, however data packages will also increase from 0.5 to 10 GB extra. The prices of Orange’s fixed products are also set to rise.

The rate for calls not included in tariff bundles, as well as for mobile roaming, will also rise. Multimedia texts will also now become a paid service (€0.24).

Some Orange customers will see their tariffs reduced slightly. Multi sim-card customers, as well as those on fixed internet subscription plans, will enjoy €1 reduction on their mobile subscription.

Telenet customers are also expected to pay more for their subscriptions next month. The price for internet, television, and mobile communications will rise by 4.7% on June 19.

According to a press release, the company states that the rise in prices was necessary in order to keep up with inflation.

“We are adapting our prices due to high inflation, which affects, among other things, labour costs as well as the prices of energy and technological equipment,” the company said on 27 April.

The price of other Telenet subscription services will remain unaffected by the change in tariffs.

However, it’s not all bad news. Carrier Base has recently announced that subscribers will receive an additional 6 GB of data per month, adapting its market offer to keep customers with a significant increase in mobile data.

Newcomer to the market Mobile Vikings is also trialling a new broadband service to its customers. A select testing group will try their new 100mbps connection for €38 per month, or unlimited 1 gigabit line for €53 per month.

Similarly, provider Proximus will soon offer its customers a new ultra-high speed router for new fibre optic customers, as well as the opportunity to replace older routers for existing customers.
