Canadian companies looking to hire 700 French-speaking Belgians

About 50 companies based in Québec, Canada’s French-speaking province, are calling on French-speaking Belgians to apply for some of the 700 positions it has on offer, the Government of Québec said on Wednesday.

Applications can be sent up until 21 May, the positions being made available to Belgians across the pond are in a variety of fields: Administration, catering, civil engineering, health, social services, natural and applied sciences, land transport and trucking, education, educational childcare services, as well as IT services.

The recruitment drive is part of a collaboration between Belgium’s two French-speaking public employment services, Actiris and Forem, and the Québec Ministry of Immigration, Francisation, and Integration.

Since 2008, companies from Québec have had access to the job market in Belgium. Each year, roughly 200-300 Belgians decide to go to work in Québec.

For interested candidates, the employment agencies will organise six free information services for the public: In Charleroi on 18 April, Liège on 19 April, Namur on 20 April, and Mons on 21 April. In Brussels, two sessions are scheduled for 20 and 21 April.
