France’s European Commissioner has quit his job in order to devote more time to writing a new Brussels-inspired science fiction novel. Le Chou can exclusively publish a summary of Thierry Breton’s upcoming book.

Le Chou can exclusively reveal that Thierry Breton has quit his role as European Commissioner to once more take up his pen and write another sci-fi epic. The Frenchman previously wrote a novel back in the 1980s called 'Softwar'.

Breton’s new book, ‘Man Against Power’, tells the tale of a heroic tousled-hair intergalactic traveller and his quest to defeat the treacherous Queen of Imperial Eternal Darkness. His publisher insists that the story is not biographical.

During his planet-hopping odyssey, Breton’s unnamed protagonist encounters cosmic Viking raiders and a megalomaniac racist artificial intelligence, among other celestial foes.

Just like other fantasy writers, Breton has developed his own language for some of his characters known as ‘Bretonese’. It is an incomprehensible mumbling full of unfathomable technical terms that must be spoken with an air of undeserved arrogance and achievement.

Breton’s publisher commented that: “this is a vibrant journey into the deepest and murkiest depths of space. A story of love, power, technology, synergies and philosophy. It is an unmissable and thrilling tale of the common man’s struggle against elitist oppression.”

As an homage to what Breton calls his “colleagues and peers”, the author will adopt the pen name of ‘T.R.R. Breton’. A global book tour to promote the novel is already in the works.

The 3,500-page-long book is longer than War and Peace and the Lord of the Rings combined. It is also reportedly only part one of what is a planned quadrilogy.

According to industry sources, Netflix is already adapting the book with Breton attached to executive produce the show. Le Chou understands that it is already likely that it will be cancelled after just one season.
