The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced on Thursday that he was "on his way to Kyiv" in a video posted to social media, a move which comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's call for faster arms deliveries this week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
In his message, Michel stated that the two leaders would discuss "concrete measures to ensure that (Ukraine) is stronger and more powerful" in countering the threat posed by the Russian army.
As the war has waged on for close to a year and shows no sign of ending, Ukraine is asking for further foreign aid.

As a result, the European Union sent Ukraine €3 billion in loans on Tuesday in the run-up to Michel's visit.
Furthermore, NATO's Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg also called for more support for the war-torn state on Wednesday at Davos.
