Dutch railway company NS is advising travellers not to take the train to Belgium unless it is really necessary.
The trains are far too full and so, according to the railway company, that it’s impossible to maintain sufficient distance in accordance with coronavirus measures, reports De Morgen.
The urgent appeal applies until Sunday evening.
Many Dutch people are visiting Belgium in recent days in order to shop and dine, which isn’t currently possible to do in their own country because it’s in lockdown due to rising numbers of Covid-19 infections.

The shopping streets of Antwerp have been especially full of touristing Dutch.
On Tuesday, the NS deployed staff on the platforms to keep the streams of passengers headed to Belgium on track.
Earlier that day, there were “several occasions” when passengers had to stay behind because a train was too full.
The motorways are also busier than usual due to Dutch people travelling to Belgium to avoid their country’s lockdown.
