Design shop Lulu was created by two cousins in Brussels’ trendy Saint-Gilles commune. As well as selling stylish furniture, the store has a big cafe where locals gather for coffee or a healthy lunch.
The cousins went on to open a second store in a canalside industrial building designed in 1896 by Victor Horta. Originally a cooperative bakery run by the Maison du Peuple, the building is now filled with contemporary Nordic furniture, design objects and art. Everything you need to furnish an apartment.
There’s also a friendly cafe that offers coffee, homemade lunches and beers from small local breweries. Try the Bruxellois/Brussel sandwich which comes with meatballs, egg, red onion, salad and mayonnaise.
