Six men were apprehended in the Netherlands on Monday while unloading a truck containing no less than 7,700 kilos of cocaine, Dutch police reported. The drugs had transited through the port of Antwerp.
The cocaine was concealed in a load of bananas and was discovered by Antwerp customs officials. However, a team of Belgian-Dutch investigators decided to follow the group that had gone to pick up the container.
The truck stopped in Bleiswijk, in the Netherlands, where several individuals began unloading it. The police then moved in and made the arrests.
The suspects are three Dutch men aged 41, 49 and 60, two Belgians aged 21 and 48, and a 43-year-old Pole. The investigation is continuing.
