Tuesday's match between Morocco and Spain at FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar broke all records on Auvio, the RTBF’s digital platform, the Belgian broadcaster announced on Wednesday.
In all, some 624,000 live views were recorded, a new record for Auvio, the French-language public service channel confirmed.
The previous record was held by the match between Belgium and Croatia, on 1 December 2021. At that time, 534,000 live broadcasts were recorded.
Since the start of the Qatar World Cup, Auvio has recorded a total of nine million live streams of matches in the group and knock-out stages.
“The development of different platforms in recent years has transformed the broadcasting landscape and the way people watch programmes, RTBF said.
"Auvio’s audiences during the start of the World Cup are proof of this,” it added.
