Pope Francis will conclude his visit to Belgium with a multilingual Eucharist at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on 29 September, the Belgian Bishops’ Conference announced on Friday.
At the beginning of the Eucharist, the Pope will beatify the Carmelite nun Anne of Jesus, who died in Brussels.
Beatification events are typically held by Pope Francis in Rome, the Conference notes, making this an exceptional event.
The Pope's visit to Belgium will last from Thursday 26 September to Sunday 29 September. During that time, he will visit Brussels, Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve.
The last Papal visit to Belgium was in 1995 when John Paul II arrived for the beatification of Father Damien, who has since been canonised.
