Snow is predicted to fall on the first night of 2025, according to midday forecasts from the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) in Belgium.

Moderate rain from the northwest will turn into sleet and even snow above 400 metres overnight, the IRM reported. Temperatures will range from -1 to +6 degrees Celsius. The wind will remain strong in the early hours.

On Thursday morning, sleet and snow will continue to affect the southeast before the precipitation moves away by midday. Clearer skies will develop from the northwest, but some wintry showers are possible. In the afternoon, weather will become more variable in the highlands, with occasional poor visibility. Temperatures will range from 0 degrees in the Ardennes to +6 degrees at the coast. Winds will be light to moderate from the west to northwest, while at the coast, they will be stronger from the north to northwest.

On Friday, widespread frost will bring the risk of slippery conditions. The Ardennes will initially experience grey skies, freezing fog, and light snow. Throughout the day, expect changing skies with possible wintry showers, especially in the northeast. Highs will be around -2 degrees in the Ardennes, +3 degrees in central areas, and +5 degrees at the coast.
