NATO was targeted over the weekend by cyber attacks, but they did not affect secure networks, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday.
Stoltenberg told a press conference at the alliance’s headquarters in Brussels that there had been attempts since Sunday to deny access to NATO's public websites.
Most of these sites are functioning normally, he said, but he admitted that there were still “some difficulties.”
Stoltenberg assured, however, that “classified” networks, carrying confidential information, had not been affected.
The attack had had no repercussions on allied missions and operations, he added.
