Elon Musk recently racked up $75 million in donations to Donald Trump's presidential campaign, according to official figures that confirm that the billionaire entrepreneur is throwing his weight behind the Republican hopeful.
The head of Tesla, SpaceX and X (formerly Twitter) donated $15 million in July, $30 million in August and $30 million in September to ‘America PAC’, his political organisation campaigning for Trump, according to data from the US Federal Electoral Commission (FEC) published on Tuesday.
The billionaire, who has made a number of political appearances on X, took to the stage at a campaign meeting with the former president at the beginning of October and declared himself ready to govern alongside Donald Trump in the event of victory.
On Tuesday night, Elon Musk even announced on X that he would be going out on the campaign trail himself in Pennsylvania in the next few days.
His America PAC - the financial embodiment of the right-wing turn of one of the richest men on the planet - is criss-crossing key states, giving priority, according to the Washington Post, to door-to-door canvassing rather than advertising in order to convince as many voters as possible to vote for Donald Trump, rather than for Democrat Kamala Harris.
On its website, America PAC offers to take on the task of convincing voters in the field "starting at $30 an hour, plus performance bonuses."
This support committee also promises to pay $47 to anyone who gets a voter in a key state to sign a petition in favour of freedom of expression and the carrying of firearms - "easy money", as Musk put it on his social network X.
At the end of September, Elon Musk's political fund had $40 million at its disposal, according to FEC data.
