Inter Milan now stands with 72 points, rising to second place despite 12 losses, with only Lazio, holding 71 points, potentially overtaking them. Lazio will be playing against Empoli later on Saturday. AC Milan, in fourth place with 67 points, is no longer in contention for the podium.
Napoli is the Serie A champion, tallying 87 points prior to hosting Sampdoria on Sunday.
Inter Milan now has one week to prepare for their Champions League final showdown against Manchester City, taking place next Saturday in Istanbul.
