The Union of European Football Associations, UEFA, has penalised seven countries for racist and discriminatory behaviour by their fans during Euro 2024.
Albania, Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia were all targeted by UEFA’s ethics and disciplinary body on Wednesday.
Croatia received the harshest punishment for offences committed during its three group matches against Spain, Albania, and Italy. It has been fined €50,000 and its supporters have been banned from travelling to the next match organised by UEFA.
Romania has been fined €40,000, while Albania, Hungary, Slovenia, and Serbia each have to pay €30,000. Austria received a fine of €20,000.
In addition to the financial penalties, the Romanian and Serbian federations are banned from selling tickets to their supporters for their respective teams' next away match organised by UEFA.
Hungary, Austria, Albania, and Slovenia have been given the same sanction, but its enforcement is suspended for two years.
