Ed Sheeran has acquired a minority stake in Ipswich Town Football Club.

The world-renowned singer-songwriter, 33, has been a lifelong fan of The Tractor Boys. He has been the shirt sponsor for both the men’s and women’s teams since 2021.

As part of the agreement, Sheeran will have long-term access to a box at Portman Road. He has already added a personal touch to the facility ahead of the 2024/25 season. However, he will not hold voting rights or a board position.

Yorkshire-born Sheeran said on Ipswich’s website that he was thrilled to own a small percentage of his football club.  He added that it was every football fan’s dream to own the club they support and that he was grateful for the opportunity.

Raised in Suffolk, Sheeran hopes his favourite team will regain its former grandeur. Ipswich earned a promotion back to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years last spring. The Tractor Boys will kick off their season on Saturday with a home match against Liverpool.
