As the world celebrated International Migrant Day on Saturday, the Belgian Football Union has urged the International Football Federation to put pressure on World Cup 2022 hosts Qatar to set up a centre for migrant workers.

The request was put in a letter cosigned by the Belgian Amnesty International branches and the Belgian football federations.

'A permanent consultation has been organised with FIFA to monitor the situation on the ground and exert pressure to bring about new changes,' the union stated in a press release.

The International Football Federation also announced 'an ethics charter on human rights, diversity and working conditions with which each supplier will have to comply before any cooperation agreement.'

'In collaboration with Amnesty International, workshops will also be organised for employees of suppliers, the entire staff and the Red Devils (Belgium's national football team). Information sessions on Qatar will be offered to all fans who make the trip to support the Red Devils,' the letter added.

Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup from 21 November to 18 December.
