A Belgian man in his 60s has died in a paragliding accident in Aussois, eastern France.

The incident, first reported by local newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré and public broadcaster France 3, was confirmed on Friday by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon from Modane was summoned on Thursday evening to help a paraglider found near a road. The man had reportedly fallen nearly 40 metres after his parachute collapsed.
