Dutch police have arrested a fourth person in connection with the explosion that killed six people in The Hague on Saturday.
An explosion in the Mariahoeve district of The Hague killed six people and destroyed five apartments early on Saturday morning. While the exact cause of the explosion remains unknown, the incident is under investigation.
Police confirmed that they had made a fourth arrest on Thursday, following the detention of three suspects earlier this week. The four men are only permitted to speak to their lawyers.
On Tuesday, a police spokesperson told the news programme Opsporing Verzocht that the explosion was believed to have targeted a wedding shop on the ground floor of the building. Police have received over 200 tips since the announcement.
Three of the deceased were from the same family: a 45-year-old man, a 41-year-old woman and their 17-year-old daughter. An eight-year-old boy is the family's sole survivor. The other three victims were men aged 31, 44 and 63.
King Willem of the Netherlands said the incident "defied all imagination". He expressed support for residents, family members of the victims and emergency workers who assisted in the fallout.
