Australian police have offered a reward of half a million dollars (€319,000) for concrete information about the fate of Belgian backpacker Théo Hayez, missing since 2019.
The money has been put up by the New South Wales authorities with police in the Byron Bay resort area where the 18-year-old was last spotted. Investigators are trying to fill in a gap in Hayez's timeline of movements.
The addition of a reward as an incentive for fellow travellers to come forward was a demand made by the Hayez family during an inconclusive coroner's inquest held over a fortnight last December, Belga News Agency added of the ABC report.
