Near the Walburg shopping centre in Zwijndrecht, in the Netherlands, two women, reportedly a mother and her daughter, were shot this afternoon. One woman died at the scene, the other was severely injured and taken to hospital by emergency transport.
The shooting happened just before 14:00 near the car park near the Aldi supermarket. Emergency services rushed to the car park, which was cordoned off with ribbons, local media report.
Prior to the shooting, an argument is said to have taken place. One perpetrator is believed to have made off with a car. "It possibly concerned a conflict in the relational sphere," police said.
As the incident took place in a busy car park in broad daylight, many shopping centre visitors witnessed it. Many of them fled into the adjacent Aldi in panic.
