70 Palestinian prisoners arrived in Egypt on Saturday after being released by Israel as part of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, according to a media outlet close to Egyptian intelligence.
The prisoners were "expelled" by Israel and will be transferred to Egyptian hospitals for treatment, Al-Qahera News reported.
The freed Palestinians have all been convicted of killing Israelis in terrorist attacks and were deported to Egypt under the hostage-ceasefire agreement. Television footage showed the prisoners in grey tracksuits, disembarking from two buses on the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing.
After transiting through Egypt, the prisoners will choose between Algeria, Turkey and Tunisia, said Amin Choumane, head of the Palestinian Higher Committee for the Follow-up of Prisoners' Affairs.
"It's an indescribable feeling," one of the freed Palestinians told Al-Qahera News, smiling and waving from the bus window.
The prisoners, released from Ktziot Prison in Israel's Negev desert, were part of a group of 200 freed on Saturday in exchange for four Israeli hostages released in Gaza by Hamas.
