The Vatican has reported that Pope Francis’s health condition remains stable.
The 88-year-old pope, who is suffering from double pneumonia, experienced a “breathing crisis” on Friday but had no such issues on Saturday.
Pope Francis is still receiving oxygen. “He continues to eat and is actively participating in regular respiratory therapy,” stated the Vatican in its announcement.
The pope was admitted to hospital on 14 February. Since then, the Vatican has been providing regular updates on his health. This is his fourth and longest hospital stay since the beginning of his papacy in 2013.
His admission has raised concerns due to a series of health problems in recent years, including intestinal and abdominal surgeries, as well as mobility issues.
