A stabbing occurred near Dam Square in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) on Thursday afternoon, police have reported.
Several people have been injured, although the exact number is not yet known.
Local media have reported that three victims, including two elderly people, were transported to hospital in an ambulance.
The square has been cordoned off and a rescue helicopter has landed on the scene. One suspect has been arrested.
"We have no information about the cause or motive for the stabbing at this time," police said on social media platform X.
Tram services between Amsterdam Central Station and Dam Square have been suspended, the city's public transport operator GVB said.
