Moscow accused Ukraine on Sunday of multiple violations of the Easter ceasefire, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday.
Earlier, Ukraine reported that Russian attacks were still ongoing.
The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that Ukrainian forces conducted attacks in Sukha Balka and Bagatyr, two locations in the eastern Donetsk region. It stated that these attacks were repelled.
Throughout the night, Ukraine carried out dozens of drone attacks and fired artillery shells. Moscow reported that the Russian border regions of Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod were targeted.
“As a result, there are civilian casualties and injuries, and damage to housing,” the ministry said, although no specific casualty figures were provided.
Moscow insisted that Russian soldiers were adhering to the truce but responding to Ukrainian attacks.
Nevertheless, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had earlier accused Russia of ceasefire violations. He claimed there were Russian attacks and shelling, suggesting Moscow gave the appearance of a ceasefire while attempting isolated assaults on Ukrainian forces.
