Czech President Petr Pavel has been hospitalised in Prague following a minor motorbike incident, but his injuries are "not serious," his office said on X.

Serving as president since March 2023, 62-year-old Pavel now remains in Prague’s Military University Hospital for an undetermined duration.

"His injuries are not serious, but he must remain under observation for some time," the same source said.

Reports in the Czech press reveal the president fell while executing a turn on a closed circuit. No police investigation linked to the accident has been initiated.

A former NATO general, Pavel is a keen motorcyclist and currently rides a powerful BMW R1200 GS. Last summer, newspapers published a photo of him riding his motorbike without a helmet.
