Over 60,000 people flocked to Tour & Taxis in Brussels over the weekend to attend the BD Comic Strip Festival.

Nearly 200 comic creators were hard at work over the weekend, holding almost 300 book-signing sessions for visitors in the 75 exhibition stands set up at the Gare Maritime site.

In addition to a wide array of activities organised by publishing houses, attendees could also attend various conferences and exhibitions.

"The most adventurous visitors explored different horizons thanks to cultural representations from abroad that set up shop in the International Pavilion," explained Brussels tourism agency Visit.Brussels.

"Younger visitors were able to marvel at the giant balloons scattered around the festival site or take advantage of the exciting workshops and games to immerse themselves in the world of their favourite heroes."

Among the stand-out exhibitions was one devoted to the world of 'Extra Végétalia', a tale imagined by author Gwénola Carrère, putting alternative comics in the spotlight.

A tribute exhibition to artist Dino Attanasio – a doyen of Belgian comics – allowed visitors to discover his magnificent work.

The Belgian Comics Art Museum also participated, rounding off its 'Jazz & Comics' exhibition.
