King Philippe and his daughter, Princess Eléonore, biked several kilometres through the city of Mechelen on Sunday afternoon in celebration of Car-Free Sunday.
The king arrived at Mechelen’s Grote Markt by bicycle shortly before noon and paused at the statue of Margaret of Austria.
Mechelen, which won the title “Cycling City of Flanders” two years ago, was showcased during the visit.
Car-Free Sunday marks the end of Mobility Week in various municipalities across Belgium.
A total of 52 Belgian cities and municipalities participate in Car-Free Sunday events.
