Remco Evenepoel was awarded his fourth Kristallen Fiets (Crystal Bicycle) on Tuesday at a gala evening in Kruisem, East Flanders.
The prize is granted by Het Laatste Nieuws daily to the best Belgian cyclist of the year.
The 24-year-old amassed 984 points, way ahead of European champion Tim Merlier (530) and Jasper Philipsen (460), winner of the Milan-San Remo race and three Tour de France stages.
Wout van Aert (332 points) and Thibau Nys (274) rounded out the top five.
The jury comprised cycling journalists, former laureates, federation members, national coaches, and Belgian cycling icons.
Evenepoel had a stellar 2024, crowned by double Olympic gold in Paris. In the French capital, he triumphed in both the time trial and the road race, achieving a historic double. Earlier, he finished an impressive third in his debut Tour de France, with a stage win in the individual time trial in Gevrey-Chambertin adding to his accolades.
September saw him clinch his second consecutive world time-trial title in Zurich, Switzerland. He capped off his season last Saturday with a second-place finish in the Tour of Lombardy, behind the unassailable Tadej Pogacar.
Evenepoel secured nine victories in total this year. A spring crash in the Tour of the Basque Country left him sidelined for several weeks with a broken collarbone and shoulder blade, causing him to miss the chance to defend his title in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège event.
Evenepoel first won the Kristallen Fiets in 2019 and again in 2022 and 2023. The award has been presented since 1992, with Johan Museeuw holding the record with five trophies.
