Brussels is among the ten best cities in the world for LGBTQ singles to find love and/or meaningful connections, according to research by penis prosthetics company Emisil.
The study focused on urban areas with a strong queer presence, social opportunities, and inclusive environments.
To do this, the research analysed seven key factors per city: the percentage of openly LGBTQ residents, the number of queer events, the Tinder users ranking, the World Equality Index, the number of queer-friendly bars and clubs, date cost, and safety index.
With a score of 71.6 out of 100, the Belgian capital ranked ninth. "About 10% of Brussels residents identify as queer, and the city hosts 63 LGBTQ events annually, which makes it an ideal spot for singles looking to expand their horizons," the study found.
The best city for LGBTQ singles to find love is Toronto (Canada), with a score of 100. The research called the city "a dream for queer singles." With 966 LGBTQ events and 11% of the population identifying as queer, Toronto offers "endless opportunities for connections and an inclusive atmosphere."
Meaningful experiences
Santiago in Chile (97.5/100) takes second place, mainly due to its date affordability. "The city pairs an 11% LGBTQ population with the lowest date cost in the study at $51.46, making it a top choice for queer singles looking to enjoy meaningful experiences without overspending."
Third place goes to Buenos Aires in Argentina (93.5), where the average date cost is just $41 – the second-lowest in the study. Los Angeles in the US ranks fourth with a 90.8 score, and is described as a city "bursting with energy and activity."
The first European city on the list is Berlin, which ranks fifth with a score of 89/100. "A hotspot for LGBTQ culture, the German capital hosts 126 LGBTQ+ events where singles here can find endless ways to connect."
Sixth, seventh and eighth place go to Barcelona (85.6), Amsterdam (82.5) and Dublin (79.3), respectively. With Brussels ranking ninth, the top ten is rounded out by another Canadian city: Vancouver (68.1).
