The Belgian Red Flames, the national women’s football team, will find out who they'll face at the Euro 2025 on Monday evening.
This is the third time the team makes it to the European Championship, which will take place this year on 2 to 27 July in Switzerland. The draw is set to occur at 18:00 in Lausanne, in the Euro 2025 host country.
Switzerland is automatically placed in Group A, while the remaining 15 teams have been allocated to four pots based on their overall qualification rankings.
Ranked 12th among the 51 participating nations, Belgium is in Pot 3, along with the Netherlands, Sweden, and Norway.
World champions Spain, Germany, and France are in Pot 1, while reigning European champions England are in Pot 2 with Italy, Denmark, and Iceland. Pot 4 includes Finland, Poland, Portugal, and Wales.
Each pot will provide one team for each of the four groups at the Euro tournament.
In their qualifying group, Belgium faced Spain and Denmark, finishing third with a relatively disappointing tally of 4 points out of 15, tied with the modest Czech Republic.
In the playoffs, Ives Serneels’ team defeated Greece (0-0, 5-0) and Ukraine (0-2, 2-1) to secure their spot.
In the FIFA rankings, Belgium is 19th overall and the 12th European team.
After exiting at the group stage in their first Euro in 2017 in the Netherlands, the Red Flames reached the quarter-finals in 2022 in England, where they lost to Sweden (1-0).
They need to finish among the top two in their group to at least match their previous performance.
