King Philippe and Queen Mathilde granted 476 financial donations worth €118,879 in 2024, the Royal Palace reported on Thursday.

According to the Palace, the royal family received a total of 2,582 financial aid requests last year. This equates to an average of seven letters of solicitation per day.

These requests are handled by the Palace's 'Requests and Social Affairs' service, which processed and evaluated around 60,000 in 2024.

Among these were 13,263 appeals for assistance. On top of approximately 2,600 financial aid requests, there were also requests for help with social and administrative issues.

The successful initiatives are funded via Queen Mathilde's non-profit organisation Oeuvres de la Reine ('The Queen's Works' in English). Last year, the organisation donated €106,361 to social projects supporting young adults aged between 18 and 25.

The target group includes orphans or young people placed in institutions, foster homes, or those living in difficult family situations who must fend for themselves once they reach adulthood.
